When you set up an Ad-Hoc connection on your computer, you will be able to connect with other devices and thus share files with them. You can also share the internet connection of your computer with other devices without the need of external router or access point. You can also use your Ad-Hoc connection to play multiplayer video games.

In the above tutorial link, we have talked about how to create a wireless hosted network. However, you cannot still share your internet connection straight away like that. You will have to follow the steps below to successfully share your internet connection with other devices.
How to share your computer’s internet connection.
- Make sure your computer (the hosting computer) is connected to the internet and your hosted network is started.
- In the network sharing center tab under control panel, your Wi-Fi Hotspot and your internet connection will be listed. See screenshot below.
- Click on your Internet connection and select Properties from the dialog box that appears.
- In the windows that open up, select the Sharing tab. Mark the box with the option Allow other network users to connect through this …
- In the next box that follows, select your hotspot connection name; mine is Local Connection 12*. Click on Ok and you are done.
Any device that connect to your Computer’s hosted network will be able to access internet using your computer’s connection.
