Use your VLC Player as an Audio and Video Converter!

VLC media is a free and open source cross platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVD, Audio CD, VCD, and various streaming protocols.

Apart from its simple, fast and powerful streaming features, it can also be used as an Audio and Video Converter.

How to use it to Convert?

By following the instructions below, you will be able to successfully convert Audio and Video files.

  • Click media at the top left corner and select “Convert / Save” option, or you can press Ctrl + R.
  • Use the add button to select the file you want to convert.
  • Now, Click on Convert / Save.
  • In the Convert window under the destination file tab, select the destination of the file you are converting and give it your desired name. Make sure it’s a location you can easily access.
  • In the Profile tab, select the format you want to convert your file to, then click on start.

  • When the conversion starts, it will seems as if you were playing the file itself. Just wait till the converting of the file ends. then go to the location where you selected in the conversion windows to retrieve your file.

  1. Oh, this is a great idea. We've been using VLC Player for years (it's just so lightweight, and always seems to work), and I had no idea you could do this. Great tip!
